About 0.04 percent of the CO2 gas which is currently much discussed in connection with the so-called climate protection, is found in the atmosphere. This can be read in Meyers conversations encyclopedia from 1890 (!). The most recent Wikipedia article contains the following wording: Carbon dioxide (CO2) is contained in the earth's atmosphere as a trace gas with a volume fraction of about 0.04 %. This means that today's level of 0.04% CO2 in the atmosphere corresponds exactly to the value (dating from) 131 years ago. In the meantime, despite the industrialization and the growth of the earth's population from about 1.5 to 8 billion people, the CO2 level in the atmosphere has remained unchanged. So one wonders: Status 2019, why have eleven EU countries been paying a CO2 tax for years, even though the level in the atmosphere has not changed for more than 130 years?
