The Maharishi Effect: Consciousness Creates Reality
Can targeted meditation reduce crime rates in cities? Can we shape reality with our consciousness? Be curious to see how the research results of quantum physics match up with insights from ancient, spiritual traditions.[continue reading]

For the first time in 1972, a study in the USA was able to demonstrate that the crime rate in several cities decreased by approx. 16% as soon as about 1% of the people meditated with this goal in mind. This so-called “Maharishi effect” was already predicted in 1959 by the inventor of Transcendental Meditation (TM) and could be confirmed time and again in later investigations.
For several decades the natural scientist Gregg Braden has been explaining the background of these effects with research results from quantum physics, which also align with findings from ancient spiritual traditions: Our bodies and our world are materialized by an intelligent cosmic energy field. In this field, several possible realities are constantly present in parallel in the form of electric and magnetic waves, from which we select a wave through our consciousness and thus form reality.
For this we do not use our brain, as one might assume, but our heart. It is measurable that in the human heart the electrical energy is approx. 100 times, and the magnetic energy even 5000 times stronger than in our brain.
The most exciting insight of Gregg Braden is perhaps that we can create this heart energy through the interaction of thoughts and emotions and control it through our consciousness. Or to quote theoretical physicist John A. Wheeler (1911–2008), “We are part of a universe that is not finished. We are not observers, but co-creators of our world!” [5]
