Theo nhà sử học và cố vấn Diễn đàn Kinh tế Thế giới (WEF) Yuval Noah Harari, hệ thống tín dụng xã hội là bước tiến hợp lý tiếp theo trong sự phát triển tiền tệ. Trong khi các loại tiền tệ truyền thống chỉ đánh giá một phạm vi hạn chế các hoạt động của con người—chẳng hạn như công việc—thì hệ thống tín dụng xã hội hướng đến việc nắm bắt mọi hành động tác động đến đời sống xã hội và đạo đức hàng ngày. Quyền tự do di chuyển, sở hữu tài sản hoặc sử dụng dịch vụ sẽ hoàn toàn phụ thuộc vào điểm số kỹ thuật số. Điều quan trọng cần nhấn mạnh là định danh điện tử (e-ID) cung cấp cơ sở hạ tầng cho phép hệ thống tính điểm này hoạt động. Ví dụ của Việt Nam minh họa những gì mà định danh kỹ thuật số có thể mang lại: Ban đầu, việc sử dụng e-ID là tự nguyện, nhưng đến cuối năm 2025, 86 triệu tài khoản ngân hàng chưa được xác minh đã bị đóng hoặc đóng băng.

Nhà sử học người Israel và cố vấn của Diễn đàn Kinh tế Thế giới (WEF), Yuval Noah Harari, đã phác thảo những nền tảng của việc kiểm soát kỹ thuật số toàn diện trong một cuộc phỏng vấn. Những phát biểu của ông nghe giống như sự tiết lộ về một chương trình toàn cầu nhằm mục đích triển khai hệ thống tín dụng xã hội trên toàn thế giới. Theo Harari, hệ thống tín dụng xã hội không gì khác hơn là "sự tiến hóa hợp lý của tiền tệ". Trong khi tiền tệ truyền thống chỉ định giá một phần hạn chế các hoạt động của con người - chẳng hạn như công việc - thì hệ thống tín dụng xã hội sẽ đánh giá mọi hành động ảnh hưởng đến đời sống xã hội và đạo đức hàng ngày. Harari lập luận rằng sự phát triển này có thể dẫn đến "những hệ thống toàn trị nhất trong lịch sử", trong đó quyền tiếp cận sự di chuyển, tài sản hoặc dịch vụ hoàn toàn phụ thuộc vào điểm số kỹ thuật số. Điều này đi kèm với lời hứa được cho là e-ID sẽ chỉ được cung cấp như một công cụ thân thiện với người dùng để xử lý các giao dịch và các vấn đề chính thức trên cơ sở tự nguyện. Mọi thứ sau đó có thể được xử lý một cách thuận tiện và dễ dàng thông qua điện thoại di động, v.v. Tuy nhiên, nếu tính đến kinh nghiệm từ đại dịch COVID-19, người ta có thể nhanh chóng nghi ngờ về việc e-ID sẽ còn là một lựa chọn tự nguyện trong bao lâu nữa. Ở đó, định danh điện tử ban đầu là tự nguyện, nhưng nay đã trở thành bắt buộc. Năm nay, 86 triệu tài khoản ngân hàng chưa được xác minh đã bị xóa hoặc đóng băng! Theo nhà phân tích tài chính người Mỹ Martin Armstrong, Ngân hàng Nhà nước Việt Nam tuyên bố biện pháp này là để làm sạch hệ thống nhằm ngăn chặn gian lận. Trên thực tế, đây là một bước tiến tới hệ thống VNeID quốc gia [“Định danh điện tử Việt Nam”, một nền tảng định danh kỹ thuật số quốc gia tại Việt Nam] mới được giới thiệu gần đây, cho phép chính phủ kiểm soát mọi giao dịch tài chính của công dân. Một khi khung pháp lý được hoàn thiện, tất cả các tài khoản không có dữ liệu sinh trắc học sẽ bị đóng, và mục tiêu kiểm soát tập trung, không hạn chế đối với toàn bộ dân số sẽ đạt được! Theo Armstrong, hệ thống ID này – ban đầu được quảng cáo là tự nguyện – “hoàn toàn phù hợp với kế hoạch của Diễn đàn Kinh tế Thế giới cho cuộc Đại tái thiết”. Vào tháng 1 năm 2025, các quan chức cấp cao của Việt Nam đã tham dự WEF tại Davos. Dường như họ đã bị gây áp lực để trở thành một phần của chương trình nghị sự toàn cầu hóa.
