Một công cụ của công ty OpenAI, được giới thiệu dưới dạng chatbot vào tháng 11 năm 2022, được cho là sẽ đảm nhận vai trò dẫn dắt hành động và suy nghĩ của chúng ta từ thế hệ tiếp theo. Ngay từ bây giờ, quyền quyết định về sự thật và dối trá đã phần lớn được ủy thác cho trí tuệ nhân tạo (AI) được lập trình sẵn theo ý muốn của chủ sở hữu. Dù việc sử dụng công nghệ này thoạt nhìn có vẻ hấp dẫn: AI – cũng giống như điện thoại thông minh – trước hết là công nghệ quân sự và là công cụ gây thoái hóa. Một công cụ sẽ làm suy giảm khả năng nhận thức của con người với tốc độ nhanh hơn và mức độ nghiêm trọng hơn nhiều so với những gì đã xảy ra khi điện thoại thông minh được đưa vào sử dụng.

Trong một cuộc trò chuyện, Sam Altman, người đứng đầu công ty AI OpenAI, đã mô tả kế hoạch của mình cho một phiên bản kế nhiệm ChatGPT. Phiên bản này được cho là sẽ sẵn sàng sử dụng trong vài tháng tới. Altman đã nói như sau: "Tôi tin rằng chúng ta đang tiến gần đến một thế giới mà ở đó người ta có thể có một phiên bản kế nhiệm ChatGPT luôn quan sát màn hình máy tính của bạn, theo dõi mọi cuộc họp bạn tham gia, ghi lại mọi cuộc gọi và nhờ đó có được bối cảnh hoàn hảo về toàn bộ cuộc sống của bạn – về mọi thứ bạn nhìn thấy." Trong thời gian ngắn nữa, AI sẽ không chỉ phản hồi các yêu cầu mà còn hành động một cách chủ động. Nó sẽ đề xuất ý tưởng, nhận diện các vấn đề tiềm ẩn và hỗ trợ cuộc sống hàng ngày. Thật là một thế giới mới tuyệt đẹp! Bên cạnh đó, những tác phẩm dystopia kinh điển [dystopia = viễn cảnh tương lai hư cấu, u ám] như 1984 – “Big Brother is watching you” – trông giống như một vở múa rối vô hại, bởi những kẻ quan sát của Orwell vẫn còn ngồi sau một bức tường Những kẻ quan sát của Altman ngồi trong chính chiếc điện thoại thông minh hoặc máy tính của bạn và chẳng bao lâu nữa sẽ ở trong chính bộ não của bạn. Tom-Oliver Regenauer đưa ra một tuyên bố rõ ràng về điều này: "Tôi từ chối huấn luyện một hệ thống thường xuyên theo dõi tôi và đã có tiềm năng giết tôi.
