Ngày 1 tháng 1 năm 2026, một trong những nghiên cứu lớn nhất thế giới về tiêm vắc-xin COVID-19, với sự tham gia của khoảng 5 triệu trẻ em và thanh thiếu niên, đã được công bố tại Anh. Một phát hiện đáng chú ý là tỷ lệ mắc các bệnh tim nghiêm trọng như viêm cơ tim và viêm màng ngoài tim tăng cao, chỉ xảy ra ở nhóm được tiêm vắc-xin. Ngược lại, không có trường hợp bệnh tim nào được ghi nhận ở trẻ em không được tiêm vắc-xin trong nhóm đối chứng. Trong trường hợp này, chỉ có "vắc xin" BNT162b2 của Pfizer-BioNTech được sử dụng. Các biến chứng tim mạch nghiêm trọng xảy ra được chứng minh là có liên quan mật thiết về mặt thời gian với cái gọi là việc tiêm chủng.
