Kiedy nastąpi „aborcja”, po porodzie?
Aborcja jest nielegalna w Irlandii od ponad 30 lat, a w 1983 roku Irlandzcy wyborcy podjęli nawet decyzję w konstytucji, która stawia prawo dziecka na równi z prawem życia matki i legalizacja aborcji w Irlandii wymaga zmiany konstytucji, i zgody obywateli.

W wielu krajach aborcja jest już łatwiejsza, niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej, ale dla niekórych zwolenników aborcji wydaje się to niewystarczające.
Tak niewiarygodnie to brzmi, ale zwolennicy aborcji domagają się, aby poród nie stanowił ograniczenia dla aborcji, a australijski popularny działacz na rzecz praw zwierząt Peter Singer, jest orędownikiem zabicia po porodzie niemowląt niesprawnych.
W swojej książce „Praktyczna etyka”, pisze: „zabicie niepełnosprawnego niemowlęcia, nie jest moralnie równoznaczne z zabiciem człowieka” i bardzo często nie jest to wcale niesprawiedliwe, dalej Singer konkluduje, że zabicie noworodka jest jedynie późną aborcją, a to co według dzisiejszych norm prawa karnego i etyki uznawane jest za morderstwo, jest bezczelnie przez Singera propagowane, jako słuszny czyn i z tymi stwierdzeniami, Singer napotyka od 1997 roku na opór, zwłaszcza w krajach niemieckojęzycznych, a jednak pomimo publicznej opozycji wobec tez Singera, zabijanie ciężko chorych dzieci w Holandii – zaraz po urodzeniu – jest prawnie dozwolone od 1997 roku i ażeby uchronić lekarzy zabijających dzieci przed ściganiem karnym, został sformułowany protokół „Groningera”.
Protokół ten jest ważny w Holandii i zawiera wytyczne kryteria, według których lekarze mogą praktykować „zakończenia życia noworodków” i „zakończenia życia dzieci do lat 12”, bez możliwości pociągnięcia ich do odpowiedzialności karnej.
W 2012 r. dwóch australiskich naukowców: Alberto Giubilini i Francesca Minerva domagają się prawa w kierunku uśmiercania poporodowego, zdrowych dzieci.
Ich esej zatytułowany „ Aborcja po urodzeniu – dlaczego dziecko ma żyć”?, został opublikowany w angielskim magazynie specjalnym „Journal of Medical Ethic” i piszą w nim, że „zabijanie noworodka powinno być dozwolone we wszystkich przypadkach, włącznie z przypadkiem, kiedy niemowlę urodzi się zdrowe”.
